Maya Ramirez, the Creative

God served as that person who was always in my corner, as the person who always checked up on me. Someone I could rely on at all times.”

Maya is the type of person who is unfazed by challenges. Although she juggles both school and extracurricular activities she always finds time to serve God. She is undaunted in her quest and believes God will provide for her in any situation. She has faith that can move mountains and yet bears an innocent heart. There is no doubt that she will inspire so many other young people, and help them come to a knowledge of Christ (Ricky Jean).

Debbie: Tell me a little about yourself. Where did you grow up, stage in life, working, going to school, are you from DFW originally?

Maya: Uhm. I was born in New York but I kinda grew up in Virginia though, because we moved. So I kinda started school there, and I’ve been in Texas for like seven years. So guess this is kinda where I grew up. I’m in 8th grade so still sorta young, but yea!

Debbie: What are some of your favorite hobbies and something you would consider unique about yourself?

Maya: I kinda jump around from hobby to hobby. Uhm. I do dance and theater. I’m on the dance team at school. I am in an acting competition as well. But, I guess I kinda think of myself as a creative person. I always go after things that inspire me.

Debbie: Tell me how you were met/invited to DFWICC?

Maya: I was kinda born in the church. At the time my parents were in the church and led Kids kingdom. So I was a kingdom kid. But while attending the DFWICC in Texas Prisca asked me if I wanted to study the Bible; we would have bible studies at the mall , and eventually that’s how I got here!

Debbie: Describe your relationship with God prior to studying The Bible and how it has changed?

Maya: My relationship with God? Uhm, it really started off just as knowing he was someone that was in my corner– that had my back at all times. Especially during my childhood. I never really felt like I had someone constantly in my corner.

I always tried to take care of other people– like people pleasing or just making sure everyone else was ok before myself. But God really served as that person who was in my corner, as that person who always checked up on me. Someone I could rely on at all times.

Debbie: What are some of your favorite scriptures and why?

Maya: Uhm, I forget the exact scripture, but it talks about the youth. I think it says “do not look down on someone that is young” or something like that. Just to inspire all the young people out there. No matter how young you are, or your age, or how young minded you are– you can always make a difference and inspire others. Take me for example. Just be there for other people. Change people’s lives!

Debbie: What advice would you give someone who has started studying the Bible or is considering it?

Maya: Uhm. I would tell them to look into their hearts. Seek to understand. Put yourself in the situation of those in the Bible. See all that God can do for you,- all that he has already done and really take into consideration what God can do for you in the future, because he loves you. Have him in your corner as an outlet for the rest of your life.

Debbie: What do you love about the Kingdom?

Maya: I love how supportive and loving the kingdom is. The disciples always have your back and they are always there if you need a shoulder to lean on. It truly feels like you are with your family, which you are!
